Israeli air force jets have carried out a series of strikes on villages in southern Lebanon that serve as strongholds for the Shiite group Hezbollah, killing at least 13 people and wounding 14 in the past 24 hours, according to a report by the Lebanese Health Ministry.
“Five Lebanese citizens, including two civil defense workers, were killed in an enemy airstrike on the town of Nabatiya,“ the report said. “Four were killed in Jibshet, near Nabatieh, including a Lebanese army soldier.“
Four more residents, including a woman and a child, were killed in the shelling of the town of Kfar Dunin in the border region of Bint Jubail.
Earlier, the Lebanese Ministry of Health said the death toll since the ceasefire agreement came into effect on April 17 had reached 552, with another 1,149 wounded.
