Ukraine's Military Intelligence Agency (MIA) has today caused “significant damage” of a Russian military target in the Russian Republic of Tatarstan as using a Ukrainian-made drone, a Ukrainian intelligence source said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported. Tatarstan authorities earlier said drones had attacked industrial sites in the Russian republic and that several people were injured. According to TASS, seven students from the local technical university were injured in the UAV attack on an object in the city of Elabuga, and two of them were minors. An attack was also carried out in the city of Nizhnekamsk. According to the local authorities, the production process in the enterprises was not disturbed and there were no serious damages. The injured are receiving the necessary help, and three have been hospitalized.
Reuters has analyzed images showing the attack in Nizhnekamsk and concluded that the drone hit the main production part of the “Teneko” oil refinery. in the city of Nizhnekamsk, one of the largest in the Russian Federation. The facility accounts for nearly half of the total processing capacity of the entire facility in the amount of 17 million tons of oil.
At the same time, the agency reports, citing data from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, that last night Russian drones struck the energy infrastructure in the Ukrainian Dnipropetrovsk and Kirovgrad regions. Nine drones were shot down over the Dniprovetrov region, where their debris caused two fires in the regional center of Dnipro, the regional governor announced on the Telegram social network.
According to data of “Ukrenergo“ in the Kirovgrad region, a Russian drone managed to hit a high-voltage substation. In recent weeks, Russia has been striking Ukraine's energy facilities, causing significant damage to Ukraine's energy system and causing blackouts in many regions.
