Tehran used Emad and Khaybarshekan medium-range ballistic missiles in the attack on Israel - 1

Iranian state media released details of the weapons used in the unprecedented attack on Israel in over the weekend, indicating that among them were long-range missiles capable of flying nearly 2,000 km - almost twice the distance needed to reach Israel, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

According to the state news agency ISNA, Tehran used medium-range ballistic missiles "Emad" and "Heibarshekan". The modern version of "Heybarshekkan" has a range of up to 1800 km. The "Emad" rockets can carry a warhead weighing about 750 kilograms and travel at least 1,700 km. According to the IRNA news agency, they are launched from underground missile silos.

The distance from Western Iran to Israel is about 1,000 kilometers, DPA notes, and recalls that Iran declared Israel its sworn enemy after the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Over the weekend, Tehran launched a direct attack on Israel that Israeli sources said used about 300 missiles and drones. The attack has heightened fears of a major conflict in the Middle East.

The attack came after Iran threatened to retaliate for an airstrike on its embassy compound in Damascus on April 1 that killed two generals and others. The strike is believed to have been carried out by Israel - something Tel Aviv has not denied.

According to IRNA, in the attack Iran also used "Paveh" cruise missiles, which are said to be capable of speeds of up to 900 km/h.

Along with the missiles, Tehran has also sent "Shaheed-136" drones against Israel. - the same ones that Russia used against Ukraine.
