A 5.8-magnitude earthquake was registered today off the east coast of Taiwan, the local weather service said, quoted by Reuters and BTA .
At the moment, there are no reports of damage caused. The earthquake shook buildings in Taiwan's capital, Taipei.
The epicenter of the earthquake is at a depth of about 10 kilometers.
Nearly 1,400 aftershocks have been recorded in Taiwan since last month's 7.2-magnitude earthquake near the island's city of Hualien killed 17 people, Reuters notes.
Taiwan is located at the rift of two tectonic plates and is frequently hit by earthquakes.
More than 100 people died in an earthquake in southern Taiwan in 2016, and in 1999 a 7.3 earthquake killed 2,000.
