The governor of the Russian Belgorod region bordering Ukraine, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported that a woman was killed and another 29 people, including a child, were injured in Ukrainian shelling, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
"The city of Belgorod and the Belgorod region were subjected to massive shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces," the governor wrote in "Telegram".
Reuters could not independently confirm this information.
Gladkov reported that 49 apartments in 22 residential buildings and four commercial establishments were damaged, and four roofs of buildings were the target of direct hits.
The governor added that one city hospital, the regional children's hospital, one school and two sports facilities were damaged.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said Ukrainians with residence and work permits in Germany could stay, even as Ukraine seeks to recruit citizens living abroad to serve in the fighting army in the war against Russia, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
Last month, the Ukrainian government approved rules that temporarily bar men eligible for military service from applying for passports abroad, further tightening regulations in a bid to deal with a shortage of troops to counter Russian attacks.
„By law, the situation is such that residency here will not be in question because of that,” Scholz said in a webcast event by the newspaper group RND.
„Employment leads to security of residence”, the chancellor said, adding that Germany wants to encourage Ukrainians in the country to work.
