Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda announced that the dismissal of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu signal to the Russian society, reported DPA and BTA.
Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin surprisingly proposed to replace Shoigu with Andrei Belousov.
Last night Nauseda told journalists: "This is done for internal consumption. So they can continue this war. Let's have no illusions that Putin is ready for peace talks.
"There is no other way to stop (the Russian president) than to support Ukraine. The most important thing is to do it quickly," stressed Nauseda, after receiving the most votes in the first round of the presidential elections in Lithuania yesterday. However, he did not cross the threshold of 50 percent and on May 26 he will face a runoff against Prime Minister Ingrida Shimonite, who came in second place, quoted by BTA.
