US President Joe Biden signed a law banning the import of Russian enriched uranium, the White House announced, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.< /strong>
The agency notes that this is another attempt by Washington to upset Russian President Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
The ban on imports of Russian enriched uranium for nuclear power plants begins in about 90 days, although it allows the Ministry of
the US Department of Energy to provide waivers in case of supply difficulties.
Russia is the largest supplier of fuel for nuclear power plants in the world. About 24 percent of the enriched uranium used by US nuclear power plants comes from Moscow.
