Latvia will contribute 10 million euros to the Czech initiative aimed at supplying Ukraine with about 800 thousand artillery shell, reported DPA, quoted by BTA, referring to a decision of the Latvian government.
In addition, Latvia will deliver around a thousand aerial drones to Ukraine in June, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Silinia and Defense Minister Andris Spruds said after a cabinet meeting.
Ukraine has been calling for months for artillery shells to be delivered so it can continue its fight against Russian forces that invaded its territory in 2022.
The shortage of projectiles forces Ukrainian forces to go on the defensive and exposes them to attacks by Russian forces, DPA notes.
