Sweden has announced its commitment to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities by earmarking a significant aid package. This decision comes as a result of an agreement between the Swedish government and the Sweden Democrats party, which sets the stage for increased military support over the next few years, reports BTA.
Three-year support plan The plan outlines a total of 75 billion crowns (approximately €6.45 billion) in military aid to be provided to Ukraine from 2024 to 2026. This funding will be spread evenly over the three years, ensuring a constant flow of support.
The initiative is not only financial, it also involves a comprehensive support system, including defense weapons, monetary assistance and support for the purchase of defense equipment.
The Swedish government's approach goes beyond simple financial aid. It aims to strengthen Ukraine's long-term defense capabilities, reflecting Sweden's commitment to support Ukraine in these challenging times.
However, the government also acknowledges that this ambitious aid framework will have an impact on Sweden's public budget, potentially extending beyond the end of the aid period in 2026.
