The delivery of US weapons to Ukraine is helping it stabilize the front line, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said today, adding that Washington is working hard to deliver additional air defense assets to the country, reported Reuters and BTA.
Speaking at a news conference in Chisinau, where he is visiting, Blinken said that support for Kiev made it clear to Russian President Vladimir Putin that he could not stand Ukraine any longer.
The secretary of state said Russia had taken advantage of the delay in passing a $61 billion military aid package to Ukraine, but added that the weaponry was now reaching the battlefield and would have an impact.
„We see that it has a real effect, including stabilizing the front,” he said.
At a press conference with Moldovan President Maya Sandu during his visit to Chisinau today, Blinken praised the country's extraordinary resilience despite “harassment” by Russia and its attempts to spread disinformation, exploit corruption and incite anti-government protests.
He said US President Joe Biden's administration is working with Congress to provide an additional $50 million to Moldova to help the country resist Russian interference, including through reforms in the energy and agriculture sectors.
