Yemen Houthis attacked the US aircraft carrier " ;Dwight Eisenhower" in the Red Sea twice in 24 hours. This was stated by the military representative of the radical organization Yahya Saria on the Al Masirah TV channel.
According to him, the strike was carried out with the help of several missiles and drones, “which is the second attack on an aircraft carrier in 24 hours”. The rebels first reported a missile attack on that ship on May 31. Sarria's previous statement said the first attack was in response to British and US strikes that killed 16 people in Houthi-held Yemeni territory.
A representative of the movement also reported attacks on an American destroyer in the Red Sea and three merchant ships - Maina, Aloraiq and Abliani. The rebels reportedly attacked the destroyer with several drones, “scoring a direct hit”. According to Saria, Maina was struck twice - first in the Red Sea and then in the Arabian Sea. Aloraiq was attacked in the Indian Ocean and Abliani in the Red Sea.
On Friday night, Britain and the US launched a massive attack on rebel targets. US Central Command later reported that coalition forces struck 13 targets in various Houthi-held areas of Yemen. In a statement, the UK Ministry of Defense said three targets in Hodeidah were attacked during the joint operation, including the location of drones and surface-to-air missiles.
According to the rebels, 16 people were killed and over 40 injured as a result of the British and US attack. Casualties include both civilians and uniformed personnel. The radio station building in the city of Hodeidah, the coast guard station in the commercial port of Salif located on the coast of the Red Sea, the Yemeni capital Sana'a and the province of Taiz were hit.
Following the escalation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, the Houthis have warned that they will bombard Israeli territory and prevent ships connected to it from passing through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab el Mandeb Strait, while the operation in the Palestinian enclave don't stop Since November 2023, the Houthis have attacked dozens of civilian ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
