The Israeli Army has announced that it has killed a representative of the Lebanese Shia group "Hezbollah" occupying a strategic position in its air defense unit, in Eastern Lebanon, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
Meytam Mustafa Altaar, mentioned in the statement of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), is accused of carrying out a number of attacks against Israelis, the agency adds.
The Israeli army specifies that Altaar visited Iran several times, "where he gained knowledge and helped build the structure of "Hezbollah" and for replenishing his arsenal with Iranian weapons".
Lebanese state media, quoted by Reuters, reported that the car of the representative of the Lebanese movement was struck by a drone in the city of Shaat, north of the eastern Lebanese city of Baalbek.
"Hezbollah" confirmed the death of 33-year-old Altaar, but did not specify his position in the group.
Almost nine months now, Israel and "Hezbollah" are fired across the Lebanese-Israeli border, with the Lebanese movement saying it stands in solidarity with the Palestinian group Hamas, whose attack on Israel on October 7 led to the conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Egypt to host meeting between Israeli and US delegations to discuss "urgent topics" on the issue of a possible cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA, referring to information from today on the Egyptian TV channel "Al-Qahera News".
A senior official tells the TV channel that Egypt is holding talks with the radical Palestinian group "Hamas" for a ceasefire and for an exchange between it and Israel of Israeli hostages held in Gaza for Palestinian prisoners.
