Copenhagen police will receive reinforcements from surrounding areas after a war broke out in the Danish capital between criminal groups, reported the national news agency Ritsau, quoted by DPA and BTA.
Police believe there is a fierce conflict between two criminal groups, one of which is based in the "Indre Nørebro" neighborhood and the other is controlled from abroad.
There is an increased police presence in several neighborhoods to prevent further crime.
There are fears that the violence will spread to the Danish capital from Sweden, which has for years struggled with violent conflicts between rival members of drug-trafficking gangs, DPA noted.
"The conflict led to several incidents of violence," Copenhagen police said in a statement.
A shooting in which a 43-year-old man was killed in the Danish capital is connected to the confrontation between the gangs, according to the investigators. Later, the police announced that they had detained a suspect in the case - a Danish citizen.
"We cannot and will not accept or tolerate gang violence in Copenhagen, and that is why we are doing everything we can to prevent such incidents," said local police chief Søren Thomassen.
Recently there have been a number of cases in Denmark where young people from Sweden are supposed to have attempted murder in Denmark.
According to the Ritzau agency, within five days last week, three teenagers from the neighboring country tried to shoot people in Denmark.
Two of the cases were in Copenhagen, and one in the southern town of Kolding, about 80 kilometers from the German border. All three youths, aged 16 and 17, were detained.
