Israeli fighter jets have carried out airstrikes on the territory of Lebanon , after the country's armed forces have estimated that the Iranian-backed Shiite movement “Hezbollah” is preparing rocket attacks on Israel, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced this morning, quoted by Reuters and BTA.
“The IDF revealed that the terrorist organization “Hezbollah“ prepares to launch rockets into Israeli territory. In response to the threat, the IDF struck terrorist targets in Lebanon, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.
The flights at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv have been cancelled, and the Israeli government has been called to a meeting at 7:00 a.m. local time (coincides with Bulgarian time – note ed.), local media reported.
„Hezbollah“ has yet to comment on the strikes, which come amid mounting expectations of an escalation in tensions between the two sides since a rocket strike on the Israeli-held Golan Heights last month killed 12 youths and the Israeli military responded by killing a senior commander in “Hezbollah” in Beirut.
„In the near future „Hezbollah” will launch rockets at the territory of Israel”, the IDF announced. From there, they announced that safety instructions will be sent to the population as soon as possible, and they also warned civilians in the southern part of Lebanon to stay away from the areas where “Hezbollah” operates.
