Ukrainian kickboxer Roman Holovatyuk, winner of many international and national awards, died in fight against the Russian invasion of Ukraine, reported Ukrinform, quoted by BTA, referring to the Committee on Youth and Sports of the Verkhovna Rada.
„On August 31, we learned about the death of the World Championship medalist, Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine Holovatyuk”, the message reads.
The athlete born in Kamenets-Podolski was considered one of the best athletes within the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO).
Holovatyuk's honors include a medal from the Tenth World Championship in Poland in 2017, WAKO champion, World Championship finalist, world champion, multiple winner of World and European Cups, multiple champion of Ukraine. “A famous athlete, a true Ukrainian, a fighter and a hero,”, the message says.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, former member of the Ukrainian national boxing team Denis Yashchuk also died in combat.
