The Israeli military said, that today they struck about 800 targets linked to the Iran-backed group "Hezbollah" in southern Lebanon and in the Bekaa Valley region, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
Among the targets hit are buildings where "Hezbollah” hides "missiles, launchers, drones and additional terrorist infrastructure,", the military said in a statement.
Today was Lebanon's deadliest day since the end of the country's brutal 15-year civil war, an anonymous Lebanese official said, Reuters reported. Lebanon's health minister announced that more than 270 people had been killed in Israeli airstrikes across the country.
Meanwhile, sirens warning of danger sounded in the northern part of the occupied West Bank. The rocket attack by "Hezbollah" spread further south from the border area with Israel. An alert was also declared in areas in northern Israel, the military announced.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today that his country faces "difficult days" as it steps up strikes against "Hezbollah" in southern Lebanon and called on Israelis to remain united while the campaign is underway, Reuters reported.
"I promised that we would change the balance of security, the balance of power in the north - that is exactly what we are doing," he said in a message after assessing the situation at the military headquarters in Tel Aviv.
