Protesters in the US demanded an arms embargo against Israel - 1

Demonstrators took to the streets of some American cities to protest the military support that the US provides to Israel amid the growing risk of the outbreak of a full-scale conflict in the Middle East, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

Activists called for an arms embargo against Israel.

On the "Herald" square; in New York, dozens of demonstrators gathered, chanting slogans such as "hands off the Middle East", "free Palestine" and "Biden, Harris, Trump and Bibi - none of them are welcome in our city.

There was also a protest near the White House in Washington with similar slogans and posters.

"Israel's strikes on Lebanon and the ongoing siege and genocide in Gaza are made possible by the massive amount of bombs, missiles and warplanes provided by the US government,'' the coalition of pacifist organizations that organized the protests said in a statement. Demonstrations are also planned today in other cities such as San Francisco, Seattle, San Antonio and Phoenix.

US President Joe Biden said in May that his country's support for Israel was "ironclad", while calling for an immediate ceasefire. "What is happening in Gaza is not genocide," Biden said at the White House at an event dedicated to Jewish-American Heritage Month.

According to data from the Ministry of Health in Gaza, since the start of the war on October 7, the Israeli army has killed more than 41,000 people in the Palestinian enclave, and the entire population of 2.3 million has been displaced, notes Reuters. The Gaza Strip is also affected by massive food shortages.

The Israeli army launched its offensive in the enclave after the bloody attack by the Palestinian group "Hamas" against southern Israel since October 7, in which, according to Israeli authorities, nearly 1,200 people were killed and about 250 were taken hostage.

Since the beginning of the Israeli strikes on Lebanon on Monday, the Israeli army has so far killed more than 560 people, including 50 children. The wounded are about 1,800. Israel says it is hitting sites of fighters from the supported "Hezbollah".
