Court in China sentences ex-vice president to death of the Standing Committee of the General Assembly of People's Representatives of Guangdong Province Chen Jixing for receiving bribes totaling about 38 million dollars, RIA Novosti reported.
The former official abused his position, holding various positions, and after his retirement in 2022 he continued to take advantage of his status. He provided assistance mainly in property matters related to lands.
Xi Jinping has previously stated that corruption is the main malignant tumor that threatens the vitality and fighting ability of the Chinese Communist Party. He noted that the party will punish corruption, following the “principle of zero tolerance”.
