Eight people died , and two others were wounded after gunmen opened fire on passers-by and customers at a roadside stand in Mexico, Mexican authorities said, as cited by the Associated Press and BTA.
The prosecutor's office in the cartel-ravaged central Mexican state of Guanajuato said the shooting happened late Saturday in the town of Apaseo el Grande.
Eight men died right in front of the stand where traditional creams were sold. A man and a woman were injured in the attack, but there is no information on their condition.
Local media reported that one of those killed in the shooting was a paramedic. Health officials said a paramedic died late Saturday, but did not confirm he was among those killed in the attack.
The city of Apaseo el Grande and nearby Apaseo el Alto have been hit by mass shootings in recent years that experts say are linked to rival drug cartels. The area has seen a series of mass shootings at bars, clubs and businesses since at least 2018.
The state of Guanajuato, an industrial and agricultural hub, has for years had the most murders of all 32 states in Mexico.
