The President of the United States Joe Biden has changed his opinion about pardoning his son Hunter because “circumstances have changed”, the White House announced, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
The pardon of the president's son came after Joe Biden repeatedly promised to allow the US justice system to operate and a day after US President-elect Donald Trump nominated Kash Patel to head the FBI.
„The fact is, when you think about how the president made the decision, the circumstances have changed,” said White House spokeswoman Karin Jean-Pierre. “Republicans have said they will not give up. Trump's recent law enforcement appointments have said on the campaign trail that they want retribution, and I think we should believe them, she added.
Patel is one of several Trump nominees who have said Hunter Biden's business dealings should be investigated further. The president's son was due to go on trial this month on charges related to tax evasion and illegal possession of firearms.
