Vladimir Zelensky rejected the call of US President-elect Donald Trump for an immediate ceasefire. “This cannot be completed with just a piece of paper and a few signatures,”, Zelensky wrote on his Telegram channel. He also said that he does not accept peace agreements without security guarantees.

„I said at a meeting with Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron that we need a fair and strong world. Therefore, when we talk about effective peace, we must first of all talk about effective guarantees for peace”, Zelensky wrote.

At the same time, he left without comment Trump's statement about Kiev's readiness to conclude an agreement with Moscow.

On Sunday, Trump said Ukraine would like to reach an agreement with Russia to resolve the conflict and called for an immediate ceasefire and the start of peace talks, which he said China could help. Trump indicated that otherwise the Ukrainian crisis “could develop into something much bigger and much worse”.
