The head of Russian Intelligence for foreign intelligence (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin said that Russia is close to achieving its goals in the war against Ukraine. According to him, Moscow holds the strategic initiative in all aspects of the conflict. "The situation at the front is not in favor of Kiev," he said in the publication "Razvedchik", broadcast by BTA.
Naryshkin stressed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has lost his legitimacy and ability to negotiate. He noted that Ukraine's armed forces are on the verge of collapse, while Russia is making progress towards achieving its strategic goals.
The speech comes amid ongoing fighting that has left tens of thousands dead, millions displaced and serious tensions between Moscow and the West.
The Kremlin continues to view Western support for Ukraine as part of a proxy war aimed at overthrowing Russian power.
