Norway supports Ukrainian navy with 2.7 billion kroner - 1

The Norwegian government announced the provision of 2.7 billion Norwegian kroner (approximately $242.38 million) to strengthen the Ukrainian navy, Reuters reported, reports News.bg.

The funds are aimed at increasing Ukraine's defense capabilities in the Black Sea, which is strategically important for the security of the region and global food stability.

Norway supports Ukraine in its efforts to protect its infrastructure and population from attacks by the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

“It is extremely important to protect the Ukrainian population and infrastructure from attacks by the Russian Black Sea Fleet,“ said Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. He stressed the importance of security in maritime transport corridors to preserve Ukrainian exports of grain and other goods - key to the country's economic stability.

Norway as an ally of Ukraine

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion in 2022, Norway has played an active role in supporting Ukraine. The country has provided significant military and humanitarian assistance, which includes:

  • Weapons;
  • Military equipment;
  • Training of Ukrainian troops.

This support is part of Norway's efforts to strengthen democratic principles and international law.

Strategic importance of the Black Sea

The Black Sea plays a dual role - both for Ukraine's economic stability and for global food security. The region is key to Ukraine's grain exports, but Russia's actions, including blockades and restrictions on supplies, have led to instability in world markets and rising food prices.

The Norwegian aid is aimed at strengthening Ukraine's naval capabilities, ensuring the protection of strategic sea corridors necessary for the export of grain and other goods.

Global food security

Ukrainian exports through the Black Sea are crucial for the supply of grain to international markets. Norwegian support aims to:

  • Ensure safe transport through the region;
  • Stabilize global food prices;
  • Counteract against Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure.

With the financial assistance provided, Norway is strengthening its role as a key partner to Ukraine. By supporting Kiev's naval capabilities and protecting transport corridors, the Scandinavian country contributes to both regional stability and global food security.
