In an interview with STVR, the President of Slovakia, Peter Pellegrini, expressed the opinion that in order to achieve peace in Ukraine, Kiev must make territorial concessions. He stated that "no one in Europe among reasonable people believes that it will be possible to achieve peace without some partial territorial losses for Ukraine", reports Focus.
According to him, only through a compromise on these issues can the war be ended, which he confirmed with his analyses of the current military situation on the front.
Call for peace negotiations
Pellegrini also emphasized the importance of quickly starting peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. He expressed his conviction that the diplomatic process should begin as soon as possible in order to reduce casualties and achieve stability in the region.
On the rejection of applications for service in the Ukrainian army
The president also informed that he had not granted a single application for permission to serve in the Ukrainian army received since he took office in June 2024. In Slovakia, any service in a foreign army without the consent of the president is a crime punishable by imprisonment.
Changing position on weapons for Ukraine
During the presidential campaign, Pellegrini supported Prime Minister Robert Fico on the issue of stopping the supply of weapons to Ukraine from the state reserve, although he had previously been among the supporters of military aid to Kiev.
