The number of victims of the cyclone "Shido" in Mozambique rose to at least 120, DPA reported, quoted by BTA, citing authorities.
The storm caused extensive damage to the Mayotte archipelago, a French overseas territory, before making landfall in Mozambique on December 15 with winds of up to 240 km/h.
The Civil Protection Agency reported on Facebook that 110 people had died in the northern province of Cabo Delgado and 868 people had been injured across the country.
A total of almost 688,000 people were estimated to have been affected by the storm in Mozambique - more than twice as many as previously reported.
More than 150,000 houses were destroyed or damaged, along with dozens of hospitals, schools, public buildings, radio masts and other infrastructure.
