Putin: Our cooperation with Pyongyang meets the fundamental interests of both peoples - 1

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a New Year's greeting to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and said that cooperation with Pyongyang meets the fundamental interests of the peoples of both countries, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

The congratulatory letter was sent on December 17. Putin noted that the summit between the Russian Federation and the DPRK in June had brought Russian-Korean relations to a qualitatively new level. “The Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement has laid the conditions for fundamentally expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in all important areas“, KCNA quoted the content of the congratulatory letter.

“I am convinced that in the coming 2025 "We will continue close mutual work to implement this historic agreement and further unite our efforts to combat modern threats and challenges," the letter says.

“This undoubtedly meets the fundamental interests of the peoples of Russia and the DPRK“, the congratulatory message says.

Putin wished Kim Jong-un and his family health and happiness, and the citizens of the DPRK prosperity.

On December 4, the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and the DPRK, signed on June 19 during Putin's visit to Pyongyang, entered into force.

In accordance with the document, the parties "continuously support and develop their strategic partnership."
