Venezuelan authorities have announced a reward of $100,000 for any information that can contribute to the capture of exiled opposition leader Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia, who declared himself the winner of the presidential elections held in the South American country on July 28, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA, citing a police statement.

Incumbent President Nicolas Maduro was declared the winner of the vote, but according to the opposition, led by Gonzalez and Maria Corina Machado, the official results are invalid, AFP recalls.

The Venezuelan police's criminology unit published a photo of Gonzalez on social networks, accompanied by the inscription "Wanted".

The opposition leader left Venezuela in September for Spain, promising to return to his homeland to be sworn in as president. The poster, published by the police, will be displayed at airports and checkpoints across the country, AFP added.

Meanwhile, Edmundo Gonzalez announced that he would visit Argentina this weekend, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

His visit, announced as part of an "international tour", comes just days before the planned inauguration for a third term of the incumbent Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, declared the winner of the vote by the country's central electoral commission, the agency noted. The ceremony is scheduled for January 10.

Gonzalez has been living in Spain since Venezuelan authorities issued a warrant for his arrest. A $100,000 reward for anyone who contributes to his capture was announced yesterday by Venezuelan authorities.

The opposition leader accused of conspiracy, who claims the announced election results are invalid, intends to meet with Argentine President Javier Milley, whose diplomatic conflict with Maduro is escalating, Reuters reports.

"Our tour of Latin America begins. First stop: Argentina", Gonzalez wrote on the social platform "Ex", sharing a post by the opposition, which he leads together with Maria Corina Machado.
