On Saturday, negotiations between the center-right and center-left failed and Chancellor Karl Nehammer announced that he would resign.
The Austrian publication "Kronen Zeitung" announced who will be the interim leader of the Austrian conservatives, but the new permanent leader is expected to be elected later this month.
The news from the Austrian publication has not yet received official confirmation.
Today the Austrian People's Party is holding a meeting. Nehammer is also scheduled to meet with Austrian President Alexander van der Bellen, who is also expected to make a statement.
