The leaders of the G7 countries described the Gaza ceasefire agreement as “important news“ and called on “Hamas“ and Israel to work for “its full implementation“, AFP reported, quoted by BTA.
“We call on all parties to engage in constructive negotiations on the next phases of the agreement to ensure its full implementation and a final cessation of hostilities“, the leaders said in a statement.
Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that a deal had been reached to release hostages held by “Hamas“ in the Gaza Strip.
Under the agreement, which is set to take effect on Sunday, 33 prisoners will be released over the next six weeks in exchange for hundreds of Palestinians held in Israeli jails. The remaining hostages, including soldiers, will be released in a second phase to be agreed during the first phase.
„Hamas“ has said it will not release the remaining prisoners without a permanent ceasefire and a full Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip.
