Ukrainian state railway "Ukrzaliznytsia" reported a "large-scale targeted cyberattack" against its online systems.
The attack, carried out yesterday, disrupted operations but failed to stop trains, which continue to run on schedule. Recovery efforts, supported by the cyber unit of the Security Service of Ukraine, are continuing today.
Despite the cyberattack by "Ukrzaliznytsia" pointed out that its backup protocols ensure the stability of train operations and highlighted the company's preparedness after previous cyber threats.
Although online ticket sales have been temporarily suspended, the railway is switching to offline operations to minimize inconvenience to passengers.
Yesterday, it was reported that online services were down due to a technical failure.
Since the Russian invasion in 2022 and the closure of airspace over Ukraine, trains have become the main mode of transport for domestic and international travel.
Ukrainian state authorities have often blamed Russian hackers for the disruptions to state and private online services since the start of the war.
