The leader of the nationalist Alliance for the Unification of Romanians, Gheorghe Simion, won 30% of the votes in the first round of the presidential elections in Romania.
The second result was shown by the joint candidate of the ruling coalition consisting of the Social Democratic Party, the National Liberal Party and the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania, Crin Antonescu, and the independent candidate, the mayor of the capital, Nikusor Dan, who received 23% of the votes each.
These exit poll data were announced immediately after the closing of the polling stations at 9:00 p.m. by the Social and Behavioral Research Group “Avangard“.
According to another exit poll conducted by the Center for Urban and Regional Sociology (CURS), Simion received 33.1% of the votes, Antonescu - 22.9%, and Dan - 20.9%.
The voter turnout was 53.18% of the registered candidates.
