US President Donald Trump plans to announce during his visit to Saudi Arabia next week that the US will call the Persian Gulf the Arabian Gulf, the Associated Press reports, citing unnamed US officials.
Immediately after Trump took office as US president, he issued an executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America.
The US leader is expected to arrive in Riyadh on May 13, and the summit itself could take place on May 14. Trump will then travel to Doha and then to Abu Dhabi. The main topics during the trips are expected to be investments, arms sales and cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence.
The Axios portal, citing sources, reported on Saturday that Trump may hold a summit with the heads of state of the Persian Gulf on May 14 during his visit to Saudi Arabia.
