French President Emmanuel Macron believes that aid to Ukraine must continue regardless of the 30-day ceasefire that European leaders propose to introduce from May 12.
"We proceed from the fact that a ceasefire will be introduced from Monday without preconditions. After that, all the conditions for a lasting peace will be discussed," Macron said at a press conference in Kiev, broadcast by the BFMTV channel.
According to him, "urgent aid to Ukraine must be continued. Then - the creation of a long-term Ukrainian army, which in a sense is the first guarantee of security," the French leader noted.
Macron added that the ceasefire "must be unconditional".
"There are no preconditions for this ceasefire, neither by the Ukrainians nor by the Russians. It must last 30 days on land, in the air and at sea, under the supervision of the United States. All Europeans who are ready for this will participate in it," the French president added.
