Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied information that delegations from Russia and Ukraine may meet at the Vatican in mid-June.
Earlier, he said that Moscow was open to the offer of mediation by Pope Leo XIV.
Peskov also indicated that Russian President Vladimir Putin currently has no intention of visiting the Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine, which Russia annexed in 2022. However, he noted that "such plans always exist" and they will be fulfilled over time.
Yesterday, Putin visited the Kursk region, parts of which fell under Ukrainian control after Kiev's counteroffensive last year.
Following a conversation on Monday between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin, it became clear that the Holy Father had expressed interest in hosting talks between Kiev and Moscow, but the Vatican did not immediately confirm such an offer.
Last week, Pope Leo said that the Vatican could act as a mediator in global conflicts, without specifically mentioning Ukraine and Russia.
