Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the new Russian attacks that killed two women and a baby from the same family, Agence France-Presse reported. A Russian drone strike overnight killed a total of five people in northern Ukraine, including a one-year-old child, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukrainian authorities said, BTA reported.
The attacks on the town of Priluki in Chernihiv region "damaged buildings in a residential area", killed five people and injured six others, regional administration head Vyacheslav Chaus said on the Telegram messaging app.
This morning, Zelensky condemned the new attack on civilians and accused Moscow of "constantly trying to buy time to continue killing".
A mother, her daughter and her one-year-old grandson were killed in the Russian bombing, he added. Photos published overnight showed burning buildings in the darkness, AFP noted.
The Ukrainian president once again called for "maximum sanctions" by the US and Kiev's allies to "change this terrible situation".
"We must put pressure on Moscow with all the means at our disposal and deprive it of the opportunity to continue this aggression," he stressed.
But for now, US President Donald Trump, who has become closer to the Kremlin since his return to White Smoke, despite claiming to be "middle ground" between the two warring parties, has refrained from sanctioning Moscow.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian authorities reported another 19 injured, including four children, in Russian attacks on Kharkiv - a large city in the northeast of the country, near the border with Russia.
In the south of the country, in the Mykolaiv region, a 70-year-old man was injured in a drone attack on a minibus, regional governor Vitaly Kim said. In the southern part of Kherson region, which is occupied by Kremlin forces, Russian-appointed governor Vladimir Saldo said more than 120,000 people were without electricity because of fighting that had damaged power facilities.
