Senator Lindsey Graham: Sanctions against Russia will not affect countries supporting Ukraine - 1

US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham intends to amend his bill on sanctions against Russia and countries that maintain economic ties with Moscow so that they do not affect countries that provide assistance to Ukraine. This was reported by the "Ukrinform" agency, citing an interview Graham gave to the Semafor news site, BTA reports.

“Why not make an exception for countries that help Ukraine? If they provide military-economic support, they can receive an exemption from the sanctions,“ the senator said.

In his speech, he also touched on China's position, noting that Beijing could also join the international support for Ukraine if it wants to avoid increased pressure from the United States.
“So, China - if you don't want to be sanctioned, help Ukraine... it seems like a logical solution“, Graham said.

He added that he had discussed his proposal for new sanctions with former US President Donald Trump, but did not reveal his reaction.

Earlier, "Ukrinform" reported that Graham had announced the US Senate's intention to consider a new package of sanctions against Russia before the G-7 summit, which will be held in Canada between June 15 and 17.
