Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Mikhail Brodsky said that Israel is still transferring weapons to Ukraine, despite the widespread opinion about the lack of military aid from Tel Aviv, New Voice reports, quoted by Focus.
The diplomat announced this in an interview with Ukrainian journalist Marichka Dovbenko.
"The Patriot systems, which we once received from the United States, are now in Ukraine. These are Israeli systems that were in service with Israel in the early 1990s. We agreed to transfer them to Ukraine. And unfortunately, during their transfer, not much was said about this. But when they say that Israel did not help militarily, this is not true“, Brodsky stressed.
According to the ambassador, he has always tried to maintain an open dialogue with his colleagues about the war in Ukraine, although in Israel he has been repeatedly criticized for being too sympathetic to the Ukrainians.
Brodsky also expressed hope that by the end of his diplomatic mission in Ukraine, peace would be achieved.
On May 4, The New York Times, citing current and former US officials, wrote that Ukraine may receive two more Patriot air defense systems, one of which from Israel.
In January, Axios, citing three informed sources, reported that the US military had transferred about 90 Patriot anti-aircraft interceptor missiles from a warehouse in Israel to Poland for further transfer to Ukraine. The publication notes that this is the largest arms delivery from Israel to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale war.
In August 2024, Mikhail Brodsky stated that talks were underway in Israel to decommission obsolete Patriot air defense systems and transfer them to Ukraine, but at that time there was no final decision on the issue.
The Patriot system was first transferred to Ukraine in April 2023.
