Israel will completely eliminate the nuclear and missile threats from Iran. This was stated by the country's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a press conference at the “Soroka“ hospital in Beersheba, southern Israel, which was damaged in an Iranian missile attack. His statement was quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reports.
“Our goal is twofold - nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles. We will destroy them. We are in the process of completing the elimination of this threat“, Netanyahu stressed. "We are determined to destroy the nuclear threat, the threat of nuclear annihilation of Israel," the prime minister added.
The statement comes against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran, which is entering its seventh day. One of the targets of the Iranian strikes was the "Soroka" hospital, which provoked a sharp international reaction.
In response to the attack, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is calling for strict respect for international humanitarian law. In a post on the social network "Ex", the organization reminds:
“The wounded and sick, medical personnel and hospitals must be respected and protected.“
The ICRC urges all parties to the conflict to guarantee the safety of medical facilities and medical teams, as required by the Geneva Conventions.
