The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has detained 16 people in the Iranian province of Lorestan on suspicion of supporting Israel, the Iranian Tasnim news agency reported.
According to the agency, the arrested citizens "spread panic on the Internet" and tried to weaken the solidarity of Iranian society.
As the publication notes, any activity on the Internet aimed at achieving Israel's goals, as well as the spread of fake news and rumors, will be suppressed by the country's law enforcement agencies.
Earlier, the Iranian Ministry of Communications confirmed that a decision had been made to impose temporary restrictions on users' access to the Internet in order to prevent attacks from Israel.
