Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey condemns all attacks aimed at violating Qatar's sovereignty. This happened during a phone call with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Turkish Presidency's Communications Directorate announced via the social network X, BTA reports.
According to the official publication, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and Qatar, as well as the latest developments in the Middle East. Erdogan stressed that “Turkey condemns all attacks aimed at violating Qatar's sovereignty“ and assured that “Ankara will always stand behind our Qatari brothers and sisters“.
The Turkish President also expressed hope for the observance of the truce between Israel and Iran and for the establishment of lasting peace in the region.
The conversation took place against the backdrop of escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf. On June 23, Iranian armed forces attacked the US air base "Al Udeid" in Qatar, in response to a US attack on three nuclear sites in Iran carried out on the night of June 22.
