A San Antonio man has been arrested for making death threats against US President Donald Trump on Facebook amid the White House chief of staff's visit to Texas on Friday, the US Attorney's Office for the Western District of Texas announced on Friday.

Trump visited Texas on Friday, where flooding has killed 119 people and more than 160 are missing.

“A San Antonio man was arrested Thursday night on felony charges related to his alleged threat to the US president,“ the US Attorney's Office said in a statement on its website.

As noted, 52-year-old Robert Herrera commented on a post on social media on Thursday about the president's upcoming trip Trump to Texas on Friday with the words “I will not miss”, attaching a photo of the head of the White House on the day of the assassination attempt against him on July 13, 2024. To another comment on the social network, he attached a photo of an assault rifle and loaded magazines.

According to the press release, the man was arrested the same day. If found guilty, he faces a minimum of 5 years in prison.

The US Secret Service, the FBI and the San Antonio police are currently investigating the case.
