Police in India have found a 40-year-old Russian woman living in a cave in the state of Kerala with her two young children, PTI reported.
„40-year-old Russian woman Nina Kutina, also known as Mohi, and her two young children were rescued from a remote cave in the Ramatirtha hills in Karnataka state after living in near-total isolation for nearly two weeks. The rescue operation was carried out by local police during a routine patrol on Friday,“, authorities said on Saturday.
The Russian woman, who came to India on a business visa several years ago, was travelling from Goa to the coastal town of Gokarna, known for its religious and meditative practices. Fascinated by Hinduism and Indian spiritual traditions, she decided to retreat to the forested hills of Gokarna with her two children, six-year-old Priya and four-year-old Ama.
The family lived in a cave surrounded by dense forest and steep terrain. The Russian woman turned the cave into a spiritual retreat, installing an idol of Rudra and spending her days in prayer and meditation. Police are investigating how she and her children procured food and water during their stay in the wilderness.
