US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping are likely to meet before or during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in South Korea, the South China Morning Post reported, citing its sources.
According to them, this year's summit will likely be “the best opportunity for Xi Jinping and Donald Trump to meet in person“.
According to some sources, Trump may visit China before heading to the summit. He could also meet Xi Jinping in South Korea on the sidelines of the forum itself, the newspaper said.
According to experts cited by the newspaper, a meeting between the two leaders in China before the summit or during the event itself “is the most likely scenario”. They also believe that Trump could visit Shanghai or another Chinese city instead of Beijing.
