The Russian Emergencies Ministry confirmed that rescuers found another dead body while clearing the rubble of a collapsed building in Saratov. Thus, the death toll has increased to 7 people, including a child.
Earlier, the Mash Telegram channel reported that the body of the seventh deceased person had been pulled from under the rubble. There may be four more people under the collapsed concrete slabs, including a four-year-old child. They are still missing.
The head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, Alexander Kurenkov, confirmed on Friday evening that there may still be people under the rubble of the multi-storey building. “The work is not being carried out as intensively as it might seem, only because we believe that there are people alive there, so we are working carefully and precisely“, he explained.
A gas explosion in an apartment building on Blinova Street in Saratov occurred on the morning of July 25. As a result of the emergency situation, several floors of the building collapsed.
