One day before the start of the school year, parents, doctors and schools are facing administrative chaos caused by the transition to electronic health cards. Although the Ministry of Health has officially canceled their paper version, many kindergartens and schools continue to require them. This has created serious tension and misunderstanding among parents and general practitioners.
„Since September 1, we, the specialists in general medicine, have gone crazy after another anarchic activity related to health and preventive care cards“, general practitioner Dr. Miroslav Spasov told Nova TV.
According to him, the situation is the result of a lack of coordination between three ministries – of healthcare, education and e-government.
Although the Ministry of Health has issued an order to switch to electronic health cards, schools and kindergartens continue to require paper documents. This puts parents in a deadlock.
„Parents did not know who to turn to. Despite the order, we were forced to issue paper cards because people were afraid that their children would not be allowed to school or kindergarten“, explains Dr. Spasov.
In addition to parents and teachers, medical specialists in schools also do not know how to use the new system, claims Dr. Spasov.
„Neither the school nurses nor we were trained. We received ready-made software products and had to start working with them immediately. Without instructions, without explanations“, he adds.
