The MP from "Vazrazhdane" Petar Petrov commented in parliament on the situation with the quorum and the new bills submitted to change the way the heads of the special services are appointed.

„For more than five months, the parliamentary group of "Vazrazhdane" has not registered, precisely so that the bills that this vicious and criminal majority submits cannot be adopted", said Petrov, quoted by Nova TV. He stressed that their lack of registration was key to the failure of the quorum and the blocking of controversial legislative initiatives.

According to Petrov, three bills urgently submitted by “There are such people“ in the service of Atanas Atanasov, aim to take away the president's authority to appoint the heads of DATO, DANS and DAR by decree.

“These projects violate the principle of separation of powers and aim to weaken the presidential institution as a balancer between the three branches“, the MP commented.

Petrov accused the parliament's leadership of having assigned the bills not to the relevant committee for control of the services, which is chaired by Zlatan Zlatanov from “Vazrazhdane“, but to the committee on internal security and public order.

“This is in violation of Article 71 of the Rules of Procedure. The reason is clear - there is parity in the committee for control of the services and the ruling majority has no control. There would not be a positive report there“, he explained.

Petrov announced that the chairman of the service control committee, Zlatan Zlatanov, would submit a written objection, demanding an explanation from the speaker of parliament.

„We will insist on observing the rules and not adopting express legislation that violates the Constitution. Bills are not made with a specific figure in mind, but with a view to the institution“, Petrov emphasized.

The deputy criticized the speaker of parliament, Natalia Kiselova, stating that she “serves the majority of “DPS - New Beginning“ and has “secret hopes of being nominated as caretaker prime minister“.
