The Land Forces will receive about 4,000 new pistols next year. This was announced by the commander, Major General Deyan Deshkov, during a shooting tournament, part of the celebrations of the Land Forces Day.
"The order has already been completed. About 4,000 new pistols are expected next year, the condition being that they are paid for and funds have been allocated for this," said Major General Deshkov.
Another important news is that by the end of December this year, a simulation center for training drone pilots will be built in every military unit in Bulgaria. This will significantly increase the opportunities for training personnel in working with unmanned aerial vehicles.
A procedure for purchasing a new sniper rifle for the Land Forces will also be launched next year. The modernization also includes sniper rifle kits, including optics and weather stations.
Ultimately, the "Stryker" infantry fighting vehicle is expected to arrive in 2026. This is the largest modernization project of the Land Forces, which should change the concept of using and training troops.
The acquisition of the new combat vehicles is the first major step in the rearmament of the Bulgarian Land Forces. Preparation for work with the "Stryker" has already begun this year, and in the coming months the focus will be on personnel training.
The shooting tournament was held in honor of the 147th anniversary of the establishment of the Land Forces and the 140th anniversary of the victory at Slivnitsa during the Serbo-Bulgarian War.
