Bulgaria has sufficient quantities of fuel that can cover consumption for at least 60 days, the chairman of the State Reserve, Assen Assenov, told BNT. According to him, the inventory check was completed without violations or deviations from the legally required volumes.

"The check was completed without any deviations from the required quantities. Absolutely all stocks were physically checked, together with colleagues from the "Customs" Agency. All quantities purchased with money from the budget are located on the territory of the country - these are the reserves for 30 days", Asenov specified.

He added that for the next 60 days, over half of the necessary quantities are already in the country, and the rest - stored abroad - are also provided under international contracts.

"There is fuel in the Netherlands, Italy, Hungary and Slovenia. We are absolutely certain that we will receive them - the contracts are valid, and the transport can take between 7 and 30 days", said Asenov.

According to him, it is difficult to give an exact figure for the total quantity, since the reserves include different types of products - gasoline, diesel and boiler fuel.

"The important thing is that the available stocks are sufficient for 60 days, until the quantities that cover the 90-day reserve arrive," he specified.

Asen Asenov assured that all fuels maintained in our country are within their expiration date, and the replacement of some of them is already underway, so there is no risk of depletion or deterioration in quality.

The Chairman of the State Reserve emphasized that the state will have access to "Lukoil" reserves, even if the company ceases work:

"The agency's oil bases are connected to the product pipeline and the quantities will be available."

As a preventive measure, the export of aviation fuel has been temporarily suspended, Asenov added, specifying that the goal is to guarantee internal security of supplies and to avoid any risks to the economy and transport.
