After midnight, rain will begin from the southwest, in the mountains - from snow. A light wind will blow from the eastern quarter. Minimum temperatures will be between minus 1° and 4°, in Sofia - around 1°.
During the day, rain will cover the western half of the country, and by the evening, the eastern regions. Significant amounts will be in southwestern Bulgaria and the northwestern regions. After lunch and at night before Christmas, with the decrease in temperatures, in many places in northwestern Bulgaria, in the Fore-Balkans and on the high western fields, the rain will turn into snow. A moderate, temporarily strong northeast wind will blow along the Danube and the eastern regions. Maximum temperatures will be mostly between 3° and 8°, in Sofia – around 3°.
It will be cloudy along the Black Sea coast, after noon in many places with light rain, which will continue during the night before Christmas. A moderate wind will blow from the east-northeast, which will strengthen after noon and at night. Maximum temperatures will be 9°-11°, close to the temperature of the sea water. The sea waves will be around 3 points, with a tendency to strengthen.
It will be cloudy in the mountains, in many places with snowfall. A moderate and temporarily strong wind will blow from the south-southeast, in the higher parts from the south-southwest. There will be conditions for blizzards and drifts along the passes. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1200 meters will be around 3°, and at 2000 meters – around minus 2°.
On Christmas Day it will be cloudy with widespread, in places significant precipitation: in Western and Northern Bulgaria from snow, in the Upper Thracian Lowland and along the Black Sea coast - from rain. A snow cover will form, and on the mountain passes in the Stara Planina there will be snow blizzards and drifts will also form. With a moderate, in Eastern Bulgaria and strong northeast wind, cold air will continue to invade and temperatures will drop. Upon the invasion of cold air in Central Northern Bulgaria, ice is possible. Maximum temperatures will be from minus 4° - plus 1° in the northwestern part of the country to 2° - 7° in Southern Bulgaria and the extreme eastern regions.
On Friday morning the precipitation will stop, at the latest in the Eastern Rhodopes. The wind will weaken. The cloud cover will slowly break up, and temperatures in most of the country will be close to zero, in the areas of Northern Bulgaria with snow cover, daytime temperatures will remain negative - up to minus 4°.
