"For a long time, democracy in Bulgaria has been walking on one leg, on its right leg. The left has been bloodless, depersonalized. This has created a problem of the inferiority of our democratic system. If there is no left and right in a democracy - it cannot be called a democracy".

This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by sociologist and political analyst Yuri Aslanov.

It would be positive for the upcoming BSP congress if the parties unite behind the decision of the delegates, i.e. to end the division, he pointed out. According to him, it would be bad if the congress ended in a scandal - the delegates quarreled and divided. And if nothing happened, i.e. to maintain the current situation, according to Aslanov, would be worse than bad.

According to him, the impression is created of a wave in favor of the candidate Krum Zarkov. The analyst explained:

"He is separated from what happened in the BSP over the past year, which aroused a lot of passions, mostly negative, within the party itself due to its participation in the governance of the country in the current coalition format. There is no way to escape this problem. I assume that we will witness emotions and other manifestations at the upcoming congress session on this topic. The party did not just split on this issue, it clearly stood against the congress's decision".

We expect to see, if there is a leadership battle, how it will end and in whose favor - whether there will be a new legitimation, whether there will be an attempt to return to the ideological roots of the left and an analysis of when and where on the way it deviated, the sociologist noted in an interview for the program "Predi visi".

According to him, people have not stopped believing in the ideas of the left, but have stopped believing in the BSP:

"It has presented a number of evidences that it does not deserve to represent the conviction of the left-wing people in Bulgaria, who are not few. They have not disappeared and have not stopped believing in the ideas of the left".

Now people are discussing whether the BSP will enter parliament or not - this is a very sad epilogue, a shameful fiasco for the party, Yuri Aslanov was categorical and expressed his opinion on where the party went wrong:

"The main discrepancy between words and deeds occurred in the fact that the BSP deserted from the foundation of the left-wing idea - about equality, and did not analyze all its actions - whether they lead to overcoming inequalities, to reducing them. They deserted from this principle and never analyzed whether their actions and decisions bring us closer or further away from this fundamental idea of the left-wing understanding".

Rumen Radev - why is he expected to help, the political analyst asked. According to him, there will probably be an outflow of votes not only from the BSP to his formation. "Like any new thing, it will attract some energy, at least at first", he believes, but stressed that his application is not for left-wing politics. According to him, Radev will be a political player on the field not with the BSP, but against it.

Regarding the upcoming early elections, the sociologist predicts that the change will probably be significant:

"If the initial public opinion polls are to be believed, Radev's formation is expected to adorn itself with the position of the first political force. For now, the probability of having the opportunity to independently form a government is very low. The other thing that will happen is that the representation of individual factions in the future parliament will be less than the current ones. The forecasts are that the parliamentary factions in the next parliament will be no more than 5".
